What is happening to the constitution?

As I listen to the unbelievable drama that is unfolding before us, I can't help but ask myself that question. I have seen file footage of all of the prominent Democratic players in this play, each and everyone, decrying the use of "the nuclear option" to pass things through the senate, to avoid the dreaded "filibusterer". I even heard VP Biden say, "when we are in power, God forbid we should use this". Well..... what do you have to say now? I will offer a similar argument. When the Republicans won the congress back in the early 90's, they offered the olive branch to the Democrats, and gave them seats on prominent committees. Look what that got them. Well, one day, they will be in power again. And dare I say, they may use the SAME "cram-it-though" procedures to make sweeping social and political changes? Let's see; Tax Cuts, Across the board ban on abortions, banning of gay marriages, the list could be endless. Seriously though, this is the type of thuggery that the Founding Fathers feared. A unreceptive majority, that would rule at their pleasure, while ignoring the rule of the people. Maybe we could declare a "day of protest"? Where EVERY business, corporation, and small-business alike, close their doors for a day, and protests the madness and single focus that has so consumed the left.

  1. Over on Roger Ebert's blog you stated that Hitler "didn't go in and tell everyone he was going to kill the Jews, and try to take over the world."

On the contrary: Hitler wrote Mien Kampf while in prison for attempting to take over the government in an armed revolution. In that book he lays out his plans quite unambiguously. The book was a best seller. Everyone bought it - though sadly, hardly anyone read it, and those that did chose to ignore those parts as mere rhetoric. Still, it is one of the great ironies of the modern age that the worst crime in modern history was well-advertised in advance.

Of course, if you disagree with my (and history's) analysis, there is a simple recourse: read the book yourself. Acquaint yourself with the historical facts.

(In case you don't want to be bothered reading the entire thing, here are some quotes from the book: http://www.allgreatquotes.com/mein_kampf_quotes.shtml)
